94 members and 10 guests were present on Monday evening to hear Baroness Hollins enlighten us about her role in the House of Lords, and give us an insight into the checks and balances of legislation. She was then kind enough to answer a number of questions from members.

Congratulations

Our congratulations go to Wimbledon WI member Rosey Hickson, who has been awarded the British Empire Medal, in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List. Rosey received this for Services to the Community in Merton.

Wall Hanging

Completed embroidery panels were displayed for the Wimbledon contribution to Surrey Federation Wall Hanging, and members asked to vote for the one they would like to submit. The one chosen was designed and produced by Dulcie Edwards. Thank you to all the other members who submitted their work, these will be used to produce a Wimbledon WI banner or tablecloth.

Raffle

Our Raffle raised £300 for our charity Faith in Action, and all who contributed vouchers and gifts will be informed and thanked. Thank you all for your generosity in buying tickets, and if you didn’t win this time, there is always next year!
